Founded in 2004, SURO® is a leader in the Canadian natural products industry. Our physician-developed line of elderberry-based medicines is the only brand that’s 100% locally manufactured. SURO® products are certified organic and Health Canada approved and available at retailers across Canada and the US.

Located in Quebec, SURO® is owned by Jacinthe Desmarais, Sylvain Mercier and Lawrence Tomlinson.

Jacinthe Desmarais DC, DACBN(c ), ND, DO

Dr. Jacinthe Desmarais is Canada’s leading expert on American elderberry (Sambucus Canadensis). A trained chiropractic, naturopathic and osteopathic doctor, Dr. Desmarais built and maintained a highly successful chiropractic practice in Montreal for 23 years. She is the formulator of the SURO® line of elderberry-based products. Dr. Desmarais is now retired.

Sylvain Mercier

A successful entrepreneur who launched his first business before the age of 20, Sylvain is a world-renowned expert on the natural and commercial aspects of elderberries. Under his management, SURO® has secured seven Natural Product Number licences from Health Canada, and achieved Ecocert designation for its organic production and processing facilities. Sylvain is president and CEO of SURO®.

Lawrence Tomlinson

Lawrence started working for SURO® when he was still a student at age 14, where he already demonstrated leadership skills and strong work ethics.

His work varied over the years from field work to manufacturing and processing of elderberry products.

Lawrence studied to be a professional welder and went on to work for ABB inc., a global leader in power and automation technologies before being recruited back as a full time member and associate of the SURO® team at age 24.

His 10 years of expertise working with SURO® along with his profession and management qualities make him a great ally.

Lawrence is Director of Operations.

The inuksuk is one of the oldest and most important objects placed by First Nations people across Canada’s Northern landscape. Historically it was used to indicate migration paths or where food could be found. The SURO® inuksuk symbolizes our goal to help you on your path to great health.
